For 2023, KaiKini is supporting the following organizations:
WAIPA FOUNDATION is a living learning center that teaches, shares, and inspires Hawaiian values and ahupua`a practices. Waipā’s mission is to restore vibrant natural systems and resources and inspire healthy, thriving communities connected to those resources.
Programs at Waipā’ include the 30 year-old weekly tradition of Poi Day, where community members come together to pound taro into poi, to be distributed to kūpuna and ‘ohana throughout the island. A weekly farmer’s market, a community commercial kitchen and children’s programming, along with annual events such as the Mango and Kale Festivals, are just some of the ways Waipā’ works to conserve and cultivate Hawaiian values and community.
WOMEN IN NEED (WIN) is a nonprofit organization that empowers women who have been through domestic violence, homelessness, substance abuse, and incarceration. WIN is committed to guiding women and teens towards sobriety, self-esteem and responsibility; developing positive life skills needed to become independent, productive members of our community.
KaiKini Cares funds will be used (in conjunction with donated goods) to supply WINʻs Gifting Closet with essential household, bath, body and personal hygiene products.
